Meet Our Pastor

Pastor Joshua Sommer is a graduate of Spurgeon College at Midwestern Theological Seminary.

After being called by God into the light of Christ in 2014, Pastor Sommer felt a call to the ministry soon after. Upon beginning his biblical studies, he became convinced of the doctrines of grace (commonly called by the acronym TULIP). It was then when he also came to realize the biblical richness contained in the Second London Confession (1677/89). He has since been committed to biblical and historical Baptist theology and practice and seeks to point the congregation to Christ each and every Lord’s Day.

Josh has been serving Victory Baptist Church since April of 2019. He is currently pursuing M.Div. studies at the International Reformed Baptist Seminary, and is also the host of The Baptist Broadcast podcast.

Josh and his wife, Christina, have two sons and one daughter: Oliver, Augustine, and Eleanor. They enjoy reading, hearing the preaching and teaching of the Word, their times of family worship at home, and the rich fellowship here at Victory Baptist.

Note: At Victory Baptist Church, we believe in congregational church government. This means that decisions concerning the call of elders, deacons, church expenditures, and any constitutional or doctrinal addendums are decided by the common suffrage of the congregation following the consideration of pastoral recommendations. To learn more about congregational church government, see Second London Confession chapter 26, here.
